316 new buses to be added to HRTC fleet-
HRTC has added 1,300 buses to its fleet during the last three years, and 316 more buses would be added to its fleet. This would include 16 luxury buses (Scania/Volvo) to run services between Manali-Jaipur, Shimla-Katra and Shimla-Haridwar and 300 Ordinary buses. A team of HRTC officials will soon leave to inspect the Ordinary buses being fabricated at ACGL plant.
With a view to strength the financial condition of HRTC, the corporation has also introduced taxi services in Shimla and AC travelers within the state. The corporation has also initiated the process to introduce CNG buses for tourists on Manali-Rohtang routes. Himachal Pradesh has a road networkof 37,000 km and has 2,700 strong fleet of buses, including 72 Volvo buses which are plying on 2400 routes across the state and covering over 4.60 lakh kms daily.
Besides the Chief Minister launched a new android mobile application which would facilitate the visitors and the locals. The application gives information regarding the tourist places, parking rates, timetable of the HRTC buses and taxis.
