I visited Sri Dalada Maligawa, or the temple of the sacred Tooth Relic, in the early hours of this morning in Kandy. The old Kingdom of Kandy's royal palace complex, which also houses the Buddha's tooth relic, contains this magnificent Buddhist temple. The relic has been significant in local politics since the beginning since it is thought that whomsoever controls the relic controls the nation. Daily worship is performed in the inner chamber of the temple by the two specific sects, the Malwathu and Asgiri.
Three rituals are carried out each day: one in the morning, one at noon, and one in the evening. The moat's brick wall is referred to as the "water waves wall." The Mahawahalkada is the primary entrance. A Kandyan architecturally inspired Sandakada pahana may be seen at the base of the Mahawahalkada steps. On either side of the entrance, there are stone carvings of elephants.
The major shrine is in front of the Hewisi drummers' chamber. "P***e malaya" (lower floor) and "Udu malaya" (upper floor) or "Weda hitina maligawa" are the main shrine's two floors. Weda Hitana Maligawa's doors include ivory carvings. The "Handun kunama" is the actual chamber where the tooth relic is preserved. Mostly because of the temple and the artefact, the temple of the tooth is a World Heritage Site.
