3 Most Common Zombies to Avoid on the Streets of Kathmandu
All right! I'm not talking about Zombies with glittering eight pack abs trudging after some really stupid blond girls in as little clothes as possible in some grossy-gory-overrated Hollywood flicks. This is actually about real time Zombies terrorizing the travelers' experiences on the narrow streets of Kathmandu time and again.
Completely opposite from traditional blood-sucking Zombies in the movies, the flourishing breed of real Zombies in the city is not just fangs-less, but also smart and fast. They are multilingual. They suck money instead of human blood. And some even have an appetite for white women. They hid in their dens and wait for their preys to find them wisely. In fact, they are everywhere and you are as vulnerable to fall their prey as others already have. Hence to help you avoid these Zombies on the streets of Kathmandu, I've personally put masks off them to make your travel experience as exotic as possible in the country. So here are the 5 most common Zombies revealed on the streets of Kathmandu:
1. Beggars
Frequented by travelers from all across the globe, beggars are very common on the streets of Kathmandu and Pokhara. And to be honest, they are completely different from other beggars you may have seen in other South Asian countries such as India. Normally what happens is you toss a coin to a begging kid out of generosity and, suddenly, hundreds of other begging creatures start rushing out of their hidden holes like like Piranhas. The crowd of these unruly beggars goes wild and fleeces you until you are nothing but a bunch of bones. They grope you, lift you, and even tease you until you give them what they want.
So to never get caught by these common zombies while traveling to anywhere in Kathmandu and Pokhara, you must make it a habit of not entertaining any beggar anywhere in the cities whatsoever. And, in fact, most beggars on the streets here work for unlawful organized gangs. So, in a way, paying beggars is like encouraging members of these organized gangs to make other vulnerable people to beg forcefully on the streets.
2. Masseurs
Despite a crackdown on several illegal massage parlors in the capital a few years ago, several of these sleazy boxes still manage to function in the dark narrow streets with the support directly coming from corrupt administrators of the country. So what happens is you enter a massage parlor for some real time therapy and you are later caught in a compromising situation with the masseur by the local police. You or your family is made to pay a hefty bribe to get all the charges of prostitution dropped. All right! What do we learn from this? First, don't enter just any massage parlors in the capital. Second, this is Nepal not Bangkok. It might not be that easy as in Bangkok!
3. Shop Owners
There is no dearth of street side romeos trying to hit on every other blonds in the city. However, the deadliest of them all are a couple of shop owners settled in the pigeons' nest of the dark alleys of some unknown corners. You lose your way and visit these shops accidentally. The extra cheesy geek (male or female) on the shop flirts with you wholeheartedly and then offers a drink with sedatives. You lose your consciousness and wake up in the hospital like a slumdog with no money. If you are woman then you can imagine the horrors of being in this situation.
Exploring the city on your own is quite exciting provided you have taken care of all the required safety measures. Collect all the information about a particular place before heading out, keep emergency numbers always saved in your cellphone, and keep your hotel staff informed regularly about your expeditions in the city.
And the Zombies discussed just above, they are omnipresent. You can kill them by simply adhering to a list of Don't Dos.
