Tsomgo Lake is also known as Changu Lake, is a glacial lake. It is located 40 kilometres from Gangtok in the Sikkim state.

According to Bhutia Language, Tsomgo is a combination of two words,’ Tso’ means “Lake” and ‘Mgo’ means “Head”. So, the literal meaning is Source of the Lake.

The Lake is surrounded by steep mountains which are covered by snow during winter. The lake remains frozen during winter.
It is a must visit place while travelling to Gangtok. Tourists need permission to visit this lake as this is very close to China border. One can enjoy a decorated Yak and Mules ride over here. The lake is also associated with so many myths. The lake surface reflects different colors with change of season.
