When most people picture disability, they picture a wheelchair.

In reality, wheelchair users are a small fraction of the disabled community. The rest live with disabilities like visual impairment, chronic illness, hearing impairment, neurodivergence, and many others that don’t come with a universal symbol and are often invisible entirely.

This matters beyond awareness. When accessibility is designed only around wheelchair use, it quietly leaves out everyone whose needs look different. Real accessibility means designing for the full range of how people see, hear, process, move, and communicate.

At Planet Abled, this is the starting point for everything we build- travel designed from the outset for the full spectrum of disability, not retrofitted for just one version of it.

So the next time you picture a disabled person, keep this in mind!

1 in 3 travellers with a mobility impairment have considered giving up travel entirely because of the barriers they face. This is what it actually looks like.

A hotel room with a shower they cannot use. A cobblestone pathway that no wheelchair can navigate. A restaurant with a step at the entrance. A lift that is out of order with no alternative. A public toilet that exists but is padlocked. And so much more!

And everywhere, staff that has never been shown how to support a guest with a disability- not because they do not care, but because nobody ever trained them.

This is the gap Planet Abled was built to close. We check every single one of these details before we ever recommend a place to our travellers: step-free access, pathway conditions, lift availability, accessible bathroom facilities, and more. Most importantly, we train the staff at every property we partner with on disability sensitisation, so that when you arrive, the people around you are already prepared to support you well.

Have you experienced any of these barriers while travelling? Share your story in the comments. 👇

Before we take you somewhere, we make sure we know that destination inside out.

Udaipur is a city we know well. And the more time we spend here, the more we are reminded of why it deserves to be on everyone’s bucket list- regardless of their accessibility needs.

A city with centuries of history you can feel the moment you arrive. Culture that stays with you long after you leave. Experiences that are rich, layered, and genuinely extraordinary in a way that very few destinations manage to be.

And with Planet Abled, all of it is accessible. Every route, every experience, every detail is planned so that regardless of your accessibility needs, Udaipur is completely and entirely yours.

If this city has been on your mind and you have wondered whether it is truly possible for you, we can assure you that it is. We know it, we trust it, and we are ready to take you there.

DM us or write to us at [email protected] to plan your Udaipur experience.

The travel industry is catching up but not fast enough for the millions of travellers with disabilities who deserve better right now.

The solutions that people with disabilities need are specific, considered, and deeply human. They require someone who has thought through every detail before the trip begins, not someone who responds to problems as they come up.

At Planet Abled, we are not waiting for the industry to get there. We have spent over a decade building travel experiences that were designed for people with disabilities from the very start- not as an afterthought, but as the entire point.

Swipe through to see what that looks like in practice.

There is a version of November where you are on a boat in Venice, the water moving quietly beneath you, the whole city feeling like something out of a story someone made up.

Where you are in Florence, breathing in a city that has inspired artists and wanderers for centuries.
Where you are tearing into fresh pasta in Rome, surrounded by people who have just spent the day experiencing one of the oldest cities on Earth.

And then there is the version of November where you stayed home because you were not sure this trip was possible for you.

Planet Abled plans inclusive trips so that the second version never has to happen. This trip has been designed from the ground up- every route, every activity, every stay- so that no matter your accessibility need, you get the full Italian experience. All of it. Nothing left out.

Join us on this Inclusive Group Trip to Italy from 3rd to 10th November 2026

Pride doesn’t always look like a parade. Sometimes it’s quieter: a traveller booking a trip solo for the first time, someone naming their disability without flinching, a room built so no one has to ask twice for access.

That’s what Disability Pride Month is really about. Not overcoming, not inspiring anyone from a distance- just existing, fully and without apology.

At Planet Abled, we get to witness that kind of pride often, not just in July. This month, we’re not asking anyone to prove anything. We’re just making space- for identity, for joy, for travel that doesn’t ask you to shrink first.

If you’ve ever felt that shift, on a trip or off one, tell us in the comments.
