OVERVIEW
The Trek of the Kareri Lake ascends the relatively remote trails through magnificent forests and secluded Hindu villages not yet connected to the road. Kareri Lake is also an ideal base from which to explore the upper ridges of the Dhaula Dhar to savour the views across the Kangra valley as well as glimpse the high peaks that extend beyond the Pir Panjal to the Himalayan Range.
ITINERARY
DAY 01- 29MAR : Dharamshala - Kareri village (1870m) Drive/35km
Pick up from Dharamshala Bus stand and drop at Kareri Village – Reaching Harnala by 10 Minutes Walk from Kareri Village. Kareri is a Gaddi tribal village. Harnala is the Meadow near Stream and Perfect to spent a Night under the Stars. Camping & Stay in tents.
DAY 02- 30 March : Kareri village to Kareri Lake (3250m) Trek/12km
Post Breakfast Trek starts with Wilderness Briefing. Trail goes through mixed forests of oak, rhododendron and pine. First 2 Km is a level walk and then there is sleep ascent along Kareri Nullah Stream which has to be crossed over a number of times over improvised wooden bridges. Night stay in tents at bank of Kareri Lake. Ruitee : 7 kms – 4 hrs walk ,it’s a small Camping Area near stream & midpoint of Kareri Village to Kareri Lake. Here we halt for Lunch Break and post lunch trek continues uphill till we reach Holy Kareri Lake a Camping ground for Night Stay.
Exploring Surroundings, Evening Fun & Folk Songs – Followed by Dinner – Staying overnight in tents.
DAY 3: 31 march ; Kareri Lake to Kareri Village (1800 m) Trek/12 km
After Breakfast, windup camp and move back to kareri Village 12 kms – Lunch will be arranged upon arrival at Kareri Village.
Vehicles ready for pickup n drop off at Dharamshala
Trek Ends.
Cost Includes
All trekking arrangements including sleeping tents (Alpine shape) sleeping mattresses, toilet tents, and kitchen tents etc. Accommodation on sharing basis
Non vegetarian / vegetarian food during trek and camping. Morning & Evening Tea/snacks/ soup/ Breakfast/lunch/Dinner included.
Expert Mountain Guide with English speaking.
Cook and kitchen helper..
All meals during trek start from Lunch on the day first of the trek till lunch on the last day of the trek.
Transportation from Dharamshala to Kareri Village and back to Dharamshala.
Cost does not include
Trekkers have to bring their own Rucksack 50 ltrs ,Water Bottle, Toiletry, Warm Cloths and personal Medicine. Rucksack have to carry their own.No mules ‘ll be provide to carry for luggages .Extra cost’ll have to pay for mules to carry your luggages.
Any air or train fare before and after the tour.
Transportation of any kind not mentioned above.
Main meals at the hotel or any other place other than on the trek.
Insurance of any kind (Personal, medical, accidental etc.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Transport Options (Delhi – Mcleod ganj – Delhi)
For travel to Dharamshala and back one can choose between air, rail & road. For air travel, the closest airport is the Gaggal DHM, also known as Kangra Airport, or Dharamshala Airport and is well connected to Delhi by Air India and Spicejet.
There are frequent Public Transport buses including Volvos available from Delhi to Dharamshala (Mcleodgan)j that cost about Rs. 1200 per person. These buses depart from ISBT Kashmiri gate & Majnu ka tilla every day/night services. or so and take about 12 hrs to cover the distance. The same is also applicable on the return journey.
Weather Details
Trek time is March and could be slightly colder than Summers in Dharamshala/Mcleodganj extends from March to June when the temperature variation is recorded to be ranging between 23°c and 27°c. Mercury sometimes reaches up to 38°c but never goes beyond that. During winters the temperature can drop to -1° and the maximum temperature hardly goes up to 20°c.
