The first cherry blossom forecast for 2026 is here! 🌸

Japan’s 2026 sakura season has officially entered prediction mode, with the first flowering and full-bloom forecast released on December 18. This initial outlook covers around 1,000 locations nationwide, from Hokkaido to Tokyo, and all the way down to Kyoto and Kagoshima.

📍 Tokyo’s current estimate:
• Start flowering: March 19
• Full bloom: March 26

Tokyo, as well as other major cities like Nagoya, Kyoto, and Osaka are expected to bloom slightly earlier than average — but don’t lock anything in just yet!

Important: This is only the first forecast. Sakura timing depends heavily on winter and early spring temperatures, so dates can (and will) shift as the season approaches.

📅 The next update drops on January 8, with more refinements to come after that.
