It’s almost our 10th happy bird-day and what better way to celebrate than with one of our favorite birds!

Check out this Eurasian Spoonbill captured beautifully by on a recent birding trip in South Goa. These beautiful birds are found in wetlands with shallow water where they feed by sweeping their spatula-shaped bill from side-to-side hoping to gather crustaceans and small fish.

Asian spotted tortoise beetle or Aspidimorpha miliaris. (Who spotted? Bipin spotted).

Considered a pest by some because of their voracious eating habits, they are most common in post monsoon across SE Asia and India and always make us stop and stare. What [a] spot[s]!

Mushrooms, mushrooms everywhere! 🍄‍🟫 These are some of our fave mushrooms! Though not edible, these fungi are vital for the ecosystem and amazing to observe. 😍

Microporus sp. are a type of bracket fungi or polypore (meaning many pores, 📸 check the underside) that also are commonly found in tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, Africa and South America.

They play an important role in forest ecosystems as a saprophytic decomposer, meaning they break down dead wood and help recycle nutrients back into the soil. They can live for months or years on a single log.

Note their beautiful coloring, concentric rings that give it a painted look, and the underside of their cap whilst observing.
