Khangchendzonga consists of 5 peaks.

Kanchenjunga Main- 8586 m
Yalung Kang- 8505 m
Kanchenjunga Central- 8482 m
Kanchenjunga South- 8494 m
Kangbachen- 7903 m

These 5 peaks make the Kanchenjunga (3rd highest mountain) and also represent the 5 treasures of Snow, particularly Gold, Silver, Gem, Grain and Holy books.
But the representation belief could vary according to the culture and region.

For Sikkim Khangchendzonga acts as a protecting diety from evil spirits and natural calamities.
So, thats the reason for restraint from climbing the peak.
But one could climb from Nepal as some parts of the peak falls on the Nepal territory.
