Stakeholders Consultative Meeting on Integrated Online Permit System
Sikkim United Tourism Organisation (SUTO), led by President Shri Ganesh Shivakoty, along with Chief Advisor Shri Phetuk Tshering Bhutia, Senior Advisor Shri Phurba Tshering Bhutia and team, participated in the Stakeholders Consultative Meeting on the proposed Integrated Online Permit System for Restricted and Protected Areas, chaired by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang and attended by Cabinet Ministers and tourism stakeholders.
The proposed system is presently at the consultation and discussion stage and has not yet been implemented. The consultation focused on strengthening transparency, efficiency and accountability in the permit process while safeguarding the interests of Sikkim’s tourism sector and its people.
The initiative aims to address revenue leakage, ensure that legitimate tourism revenue accrues to the State, reduce unnecessary intermediaries and simplify the permit process for visitors and Sikkim-registered tour and travel operators.
SUTO and participating stakeholders shared valuable insights, concerns and suggestions on the proposed framework. The Government has reiterated its commitment to participatory governance, local participation and a transparent, accountable and sustainable tourism system that ensures the benefits of Sikkim’s tourism economy meaningfully reach its people.
The consultation was constructive and will contribute towards further examining and refining the proposed system in the larger public interest.
