Now we are very happy to announce that our Sikkim has Airport and now our tourist can travel directly here... getting mesmerizing mountain view....Pakyong Airport is a greenfield airport near Gangtok at the state capital of Sikkim, India. The airport, spread over 990 acres and is located at Pakyong town about 35km (22 min) south of Gangtok. The Pakyong airport, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated on Monday, is spread over 990 acres and is the first greenfield airport to be constructed in the north-east India. The project was approved by the Union Cabinet a decade ago.At an altitude of more than 4,500 feet, the picturesque airport is considered an engineering marvel because of the terrain where it has been built.State-of-the-art geotechnical engineering including soil reinforcement and slope stabilisation techniques were used because traditional retaining structures and embankments were ruled as unfeasible in the greenfield project, a government official said.Pakyong Airport is one of the five highest airports in India. It is also the first greenfield airport to be constructed in the Northeastern Region of India, the 100th operational airport in India, and the only airport in the state of Sikkim.

RED PANDA RIDERS MEET at the Sikkim Red Panda Winter Carnival 2017-18.

The Dept. of Tourism & Civil Aviation, Govt. of Sikkim is organising the SIKKIM RED PANDA WINTER CARNIVAL 2017-18, from 8th Jan to 18th Jan 2018.
The Sikkim Red Panda Winter Carnival which is named after the exotic Red Panda, the state animal of Sikkim, is the biggest tourism festival of the state and aims at promoting communal harmony and ‘Unity in Diversity’, whereby all the ethnic communities of Sikkim come together to celebrate life and culture.
Spread over 10 days, the festival will showcase Sikkim’s rich and diverse culture, traditions, customs, cuisines, bio-diversity, folk music, history and lifestyle and a melange of cultural and traditional displays under one roof.

Major Attractions of the Festival this year are Carnival Parade, Eco-adventure sports, cultural, musical & DJ nights, organic products exhibition and sale, Riders Meet, traditional food fest, Fashion Show, International rock contest, art & Photo Exhibition.
