Gurudongmar Lake is a stunning, high-altitude glacial lake in North Sikkim situated at an elevation of 17,800 feet (5,430 meters).

It is a sacred site revered by Buddhists, Sikhs, and Hindus, named after Guru Padmasambhava (the founder of Tibetan Buddhism), who is said to have blessed the waters so a portion never freezes.

You can now plan a trip to Gurudongmar Lake, as the route through Lachen in North Sikkim is open for tourists.

Kathmandu. The government is extensively mobilizing air transport for the immediate rescue and relief distribution of citizens stranded in flood and landslide affected areas. Special preparations have been underway since 6:30 this morning through the Rescue Coordination Center (RCC) at Tribhuvan International Airport.
Twenty helicopters have been kept on ‘standby’ for further rescue operations. In addition, 10 more helicopters have already been deployed in flood-affected areas and surrounding regions. These helicopters will conduct rescues in places inaccessible by land due to adverse weather and geographical difficulties.
