Travel platform Skyscanner on Wednesday (October
23) released its 'Travel Trends Report 2025', wherein it revealed the top destination where Indians will travel in 2025.
According to the report, Meghalaya's Shillong would be the top Indian city where travellers are looking to travel next year.
Shillong overtook Baku, the historic capital of Azerbaijan, to become the most sought-after destination for Indian travellers in 2025.
Shillong is also the only Indian city to feature on the list where Indian travellers prefer to visit in the upcoming year.
The findings of the report, based on a sample of 1,000 Indian respondents, indicated that 66% of Indian travellers are planning to travel more in 2025.
"Known as the Scotland of the East, Shillong in India sits on top among the most buzzing destinations, followed by Baku, Azerbaijan, and Langkawi, Malaysia, which are known for give travellers a diverse range of experiences and an ideal mix of relaxation and adventure," the report said.
The report also highlighted other emerging destinations that are attracting Indian travellers, including Tromso in Norway, Tashkent in Uzbekistan, and al-Ula in Saudi Arabia.
"Indian travellers are not just exploring new places; they're focused on meaningful, collective experiences while balancing their budgets. With 86% planning to spend the same or more on flights and 80% on accommodation, they're ready to explore more in 2025," Skyscanner's travel expert Mohit Joshi said.
