Phoenix , the student society associated with the department of Electronics and Communication Engine Welcome to the Official Page of Phoenix.

The society was formed with an aim to provide a platform to the students on which they could enhance their practical knowledge and gain valuable experience in the industrial arena. The society also aimed at conducting technical seminars by eminent personalities, workshops on various technical developments and organizing various technical events for the students in the college.

A technical seminar was successfully conducted by Team Phoenix members on 13th Nov, 2021 to spread awareness regarding the advanced technologies in the field of electronics and communication.

The second year volunteers divided into two teams, delivered presentations on Visible Light Communication (VLC) and Plastic Solar Cells, talking in detail about the construction, working, application, future scope, advantages and realising how the future will depend heavily on the accurate deployment of these technological advancements.

Altogether the event was a great success with all covid protocols taken into account, audience from various streams showed up and participated in the session by asking the necessary questions. The session in some way or the other added some value to the lives of the people associated with it.

:: BIO BATTERY ::

A bio-battery is an energy storing device that is powered by organic compounds, usually being glucose, such as the glucose in human blood. By using enzymes to break down glucose, bio-batteries directly receive energy from glucose. Then these batteries store this energy for later use. This concept is almost identical to how both plants and many animals use energy from metabolic reactions.

Like any battery, bio-batteries consist of an anode, cathode, separator and electrolyte with each component layered on top of another. At the anode, the sugar is oxidized, producing both electrons and protons.

Glucose→Gluconolactone + 2H+ + 2e−

The electrons travel from the surface of the anode through an external circuit to get to the cathode. On the other hand, the protons are transferred via the electrolyte through the separator to the cathode side of the battery.
The cathode then carries out a reduction half-reaction, combining the protons and electrons with the addition of oxygen gas to produce water.

O2 + 4H+ + 4e− → 2H2O

Bio-batteries have the ability to allow an instant recharge. In other words, through a constant supply of sugar, or glucose, bio batteries are able to continuously keep themselves charged without an external power supply. Bio batteries are also a source of non-flammable, and non-toxic fuel. This provides a clean alternative renewable power source.
