The Gorubathan Tourism Development Society (GTDS) delegation, led by its President, Mr. Shyam Thapa, met with the Hon'ble Minister-in-Charge of the Department of Tourism, Dr. Shankar Ghosh, in Siliguri to discuss the future development of tourism in the Gorubathan region.
During the meeting, the delegation submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting the key challenges currently affecting the tourism sector, while also presenting the region's immense potential for sustainable tourism growth. The memorandum emphasized the urgent need for strategic planning, improved infrastructure, better road connectivity, tourism promotion, and strong government support to unlock the area's full potential.
The delegation also proposed the development of major tourism attractions, including a scenic Sky Walk, thrilling Zipline facilities, and other adventure tourism activities that would attract both domestic and international visitors. In addition, the memorandum recommended the establishment of a Gorkha Traditional Park to preserve and showcase the rich cultural heritage, customs, traditional architecture, cuisine, music, and lifestyle of the Gorkha community. Such a cultural destination would not only promote heritage tourism but also create new livelihood opportunities for local artisans, youth, and entrepreneurs.
The GTDS expressed its confidence that with timely government intervention, sustainable tourism practices, and public-private collaboration, Gorubathan can emerge as one of the leading eco-tourism, cultural tourism, and adventure tourism destinations in the Eastern Himalayas. These initiatives would significantly contribute to regional economic development, generate employment opportunities, empower local communities, and promote the conservation of the area's unique natural and cultural resources.

On 4th June 2025, an awareness and coordination meeting was held at the BADP Hall, organized by the BDO Gorubathan, with stakeholders related to tourism (Homestay Owners, Tour & Travel operators, and Tourist Guides).

The program was hosted by Soma Mukhiya, and the purpose of the event was explained by Haider Ali. Everyone present shared their views and suggestions. The meeting concluded with suggestions from Ongden Malomu.

Suggestions raised during the meeting:

1. Tourist Guides should collect complete information about the tourist attractions in Gorubathan, create dedicated pages, and share them on social media platforms.

2. As Tourist Guides and Homestay Owners play a key role in promoting tourism in Gorubathan, regular contact and coordination between them is essential.

3. Proposals should be submitted to the concerned authorities for the renovation of major historical and heritage sites in Gorubathan.

4. Regular meetings and coordination with all tourism stakeholders should be maintained.

गोरुबथान वेब फाउण्डेशनको आयोजनामा गोरुबथानमा पहिलो पल्ट “मिस गोरुबथान 2025 प्रतियोगिता सम्पन्न हुन गइरहेको छ। यस प्रतियोगिताको माध्यमबाट मोडलिङमा रुचि राख्नेहरुले आफ्नो सपना साकार बनाउन एउटा नयाँ अवसर अनि मन्च पाउनेछन् भने मोड्लिङसंगै आत्माविश्वास र व्यक्तित्व विकाश गरेर जीवनमा नयाँ उचाइलाई छुन थप सहयोग पुग्नेछ।

मोडलिङ भनेको आफ्नो व्यक्तित्व अभिव्यक्त गर्ने कला हो, त्यसैले यस प्रतियोगितामा Height र Weight - को कुनै प्रतिबन्ध हुने छैन। अनि यस प्रतियोगितामा भाग लिनको निम्ति कुनै अनुभव छैन भने पनि सुर्ताउनु पर्दैन, जसको निम्ति तपाईंहरूलाई दुई दिनको मोडलिङ माथि Grooming Session अनि तिन दिनको Public Speaking र Self Confidence - माथि तालिम प्रदान गराइनेछ।

प्रथम पल्ट गोरुबथानमा आयोजना हुन गइरहेको Miss Gorubathan - 2025 प्रतियोगिता तीन catagory मा हुनेछ।
१. MISS Categroy - 16 वर्ष देखि 30 वर्षसम्म
२. Teens Category - 13 वर्ष देखि 15 वर्षसम्म।
३. Kids Category - 5 बर्ष देखि 12 वर्षसम्म।

आउनुहोस्, पहिलो पल्ट आयोजना हुन लागेको “मिस गोरुबथान २०२५” मा सहभागी भई आफ्नो सपनाको यात्रा सुरु गर्नुहोस्।
