On January 6th, 2024, during our 3-day photography tour, I had the incredible privilege of witnessing a beautiful female tigress with her two cubs in Sundarbans. This marks my second cub sightingโ€”last November, I had the amazing opportunity to photograph Tigress Riddhi with her three cubs in Ranthambore, which was my first ever cub sighting.

Experiencing this in Sundarbans, a place that holds a special place in my heart, has been absolutely mind-blowing. These moments will stay with me for a lifetime!

๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒณ The Sundarbans, the largest mangrove ecosystem in the world, truly lives up to its name, which means โ€˜beautiful forestโ€™ in Bengali.

This natural wonder is a sight to behold, especially during March and April, when the vibrant leaves bring a burst of color to the landscape. ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒธ Itโ€™s the perfect time to witness the mesmerizing beauty of nature in all its glory. If you havenโ€™t yet experienced the magic of the Sundarbans, now is the time! ๐Ÿ’š

The Sundarbans is the only mangrove forest in the world where tigers ๐Ÿ… roam freely. Itโ€™s also the largest continuous tiger habitat in all of Asia, though spotting one here is no easy task ๐Ÿ‘€.

These tigers have become incredible swimmers ๐ŸŒŠ, adapting to tidal currents and hunting with precision both in water and on land ๐ŸŒณ.

But itโ€™s not just the land they dominateโ€”tigers rule the stories ๐Ÿ“–, myths, rumours, and even the dreams ๐ŸŒ™ that surround this mystical forest.

Did you know the saltwater crocodile is the largest and heaviest living reptile on Earth? Males can grow up to 20 feet long and weigh over 1,000 kg! ๐ŸŠ

This incredible predator is built for life in the water. With eyes adapted to see underwater and excellent night vision, it hunts in the dark like a pro. ๐ŸŒ™

What sets it apart from other crocodilians? The saltwater croc can handle salty waters, thriving in mangrove channels and even swimming far out to sea. In places like the Sundarbans, it's the ultimate predator, outcompeting sharks, cobras, pythons, and even the Bengal tiger! ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ’ช

Plastic pollution is a growing threat to the Sundarbans, the worldโ€™s largest mangrove forest, impacting its water, marine life, and biodiversity.

The Forest Department has already banned single-use plastic bottles to protect this unique ecosystem.

Responsible tourism can help mitigate these harms. By following guidelines and avoiding plastic, visitors play a vital role in preserving this natural wonder for future generations.

Let's protect the Sundarbans for a sustainable future! Photo taken during Sundarban Wildlife Expedition Photography tour.

The Crested Serpent Eagle, spotted in the Sundarbans mangrove forest, is easily identified by its bushy, white-tipped crest.

As an apex predator, it helps maintain ecological balance by controlling snake populations and preying on small animals.
