Trip to Ladakh – Important Points to Remember
• Best time to visit: May to September
• Rest for first 24 hours in Leh to avoid altitude sickness
• Drink plenty of water and avoid alcohol/smoking initially
• Carry government ID, photocopies, tickets, hotel bookings, and vehicle papers
• Inner Line Permit required for places like Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, and Tso Moriri
• Pack thermals, warm jacket, gloves, woollen cap, sunglasses, sunscreen SPF 50+, lip balm, and trekking shoes
• Carry medicines: Diamox (doctor advice), ORS, cold/cough tablets, painkillers, personal medicines
• Postpaid SIMs work best — Airtel, Jio, BSNL
• Carry enough cash; ATMs mostly available only in Leh
• Fuel stations are limited — refill whenever possible
• Start road trips early because weather changes quickly
• Eat light food initially and stay hydrated
• Respect local culture and monasteries
• Avoid littering; keep lakes and mountains clean
• Keep power bank, torch, offline maps, and charger
• Oxygen levels are low at high-altitude passes
• Travel insurance is recommended for bike trips/adventure activities
• Keep emergency contacts and hotel numbers saved offline
• Popular attractions: Magnetic Hill, Khardung La, Pangong Lake, Nubra Valley, Hemis Monastery, Thiksey Monastery
• Nights are very cold even in summer, so always keep warm clothes handy
• Keep extra snacks and water during long drives between remote areas
