India’s aviation sector is set to grow, with the Civil Aviation Ministry clearing two new airlines, Al Hind Air and FlyExpress, to begin operations next year, according to a PTI report. Both airlines have received their No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from the ministry, marking a key step toward taking to the skies.
Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu said the government is encouraging more airlines to enter the market, as India is one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation sectors. In addition to these two carriers, Uttar Pradesh-based Shankh Air, which has already secured its NOC, is expected to launch flight operations in 2026.
The move comes amid efforts to increase competition in India’s aviation market, which is currently dominated by a few major players. With limited airline options and rising passenger demand, the entry of new carriers is expected to improve connectivity, strengthen regional routes, and offer travelers more choice.
Al Hind Air, promoted by the Kerala-based Alhind Group, plans to operate as a regional commuter airline with its base in Kochi. It is expected to begin operations using ATR aircraft, focusing initially on domestic routes before expanding further.
The addition of new airlines is expected to make India’s aviation sector more competitive, resilient, and accessible in the years ahead.
