My first Safari in India in 1990 left an indelible mark on my mind. A thought to do something for the endangered Tiger, to make a difference hovered around and in my mind for few months subsequently. All this got me to study the Tiger, it's habitat, the challenges in our society, the threats, etc. One thing stood out predominantly and that that Tiger was losing it's ground much faster than anticip

ated. Be it poaching, loss of habitat, or the dependence of local community on forest for bio-mass, the challenges were many, but focus was one, to Save the Tiger. I thought of my own strengths and qualifications, and how could i best contribute. At this time I was working with the Taj Group of Hotels in India. Working in an industry which provides largest employment in the world gave me an answer. To make tourism an alternate economy in these remote areas was my soul call. To basically remove the dependence of the local community on the forest, thus saving the habitat of the Tiger, in turn Saving the Tiger. Next 10 years I went around seeing the various national parks in India, understanding the parks, the and the challenges. It was now that I realized that India had a lot to offer, one of the richest areas on this planet when it comes to bio-diversity. Be it the Asian Elephants, Asiatic Lions, Snow Leopards, One Horned Rhinos, more than 1200 bird species, India was home to many charismatic species, highly threatened species, and many endemic species as well. So when I started in year 2000 I knew exactly how to reach out to the local community, how to ensure they benefitted from tourism. Thus Nature Safari India was born. Ever since we have promoted tourism in the various national parks in India, including many lesser known parks, thus ensuring tourism revenues reaches out far and wide and not get restricted to only few parks in India. Our regular visits to these parks has assisted us in choosing the right drivers and guides for your safaris. If you are keen to do Safaris in India, do let us know your interests and we will tailor make a program to suit your preferences.

🌿🐯 Have you ever seen a tiger eating grass?
Yes, you read that right - the apex predator of the jungle, a pure carnivore, sometimes stops for a little… green snack!

So, why do tigers eat grass? 🤔
While it may look unusual, there’s solid science (and instinct) behind it:

1️⃣ Natural Detox: Just like domestic cats, tigers nibble grass to help induce vomiting and clear out indigestible matter - like fur, bones, or feathers.
2️⃣ Digestive Aid: Grass helps stimulate digestion and relieve bloating or discomfort caused by their heavy, protein-rich meals.
3️⃣ Instinctive Behavior: Wild cats across species - lions, leopards, cheetahs - occasionally eat grass. It’s an instinctive self-medicating behavior that keeps their digestive systems healthy.
4️⃣ Hydration & Minerals: Grass contains traces of water and minerals that may supplement the tiger’s nutrition during dry spells.

So the next time you see a tiger munching grass - it’s not turning vegetarian. It’s just practicing some jungle-style self-care! 🐅✨

The Forgotten Apes of Asia.

They sing. They swing. They vanish.
High in the treetops of Asia’s forests, gibbons move with grace and sing in haunting duets that once echoed through the canopy.
But today, their songs are fading, drowned by chainsaws, lost to shrinking forests, and silenced by the illegal wildlife trade.

On this International Gibbon Day (October 24), let’s remember the forgotten apes — our smallest, swiftest cousins — and protect the homes that keep their voices alive.

Let their songs be heard again.

In Corbett, the forest doesn’t just exist — it breathes.
Every sunrise paints a new story,
every footprint tells of strength and peace.
Here, the tiger rules not with a roar,
but with silence… and presence. 🐅🌳
