Termite swarming isn’t random—it’s nature’s way of creating new life.

After years of growing silently underground, a mature colony releases winged termites when the weather is warm, humid, and just right—usually after the first rains in Kumaon. For a brief moment, thousands take flight together, turning the sky into something almost magical.

But this flight has a purpose.
They’re searching for a partner.

Once they find one, they land, shed their wings, and disappear into the soil or wood—starting a new colony from scratch.

What feels chaotic lasts only minutes…
but it’s the beginning of an entirely new world beneath 🌿
