Idukki Arch Dam - One of its own kind in Asia, this project is funded by Government of Canada and meets power requirements of the areas nearby as well as water needs of nearby flora and fauna by its reservoir.
Other dams/reservoirs and their viewing sites-
Kulamavu Dam on Periyar River - Kulamavu is a hill station with amazingly amusing views and houses one of the three dams that contributes to Idukki reservoir.
Cheruthani Dam - On the river by the same name the dam is build contributing to the same Idukki project lies on the way to Painavu. Boating from Kulamavu to Cheruthani can be availed.
Kalliyanathandu - A breathtakingly beautiful hill station, it is also a fabulous Idukki dam viewing site studded with mountains and greenery of forests. Trekking and mountaineering activities are also common.
Malankara - An artificial reservoir some 6 Km away from exceptionally bestowed town of Thoduphuza, it is picnic and fishing activities by tourists.
