Paruthumpara is a place that spread about a 100 acres of rocky area that mixed with beautiful meadows, wide grasslands, , early days there were hundreds of eagles lived on this place because of this it get the name Paruthumpara(Eagle Rock) . In the Malayalam language, ‘parunthu‘means eagle and ‘para‘ means rock. So that is how the name came. The place is famous for a rock which resembles India’s greatest poet rabindranath tagore, local people called this rock “Tagore Head”.

A narrow, but well-maintained, road from Kallar Junction leads to this place, On approaching Parunthumpara, you start to see the beautiful meadows of Parunthumapara. On the west side of this spot there is a trench - the su***de point which is about a Eight hundred meters deep.
