TAWANG: Located in the North-West part of Arunachal Pradesh and is the district headquarters of the Tawang Distict is a gem for tourists. Situated at an elevation of 3,048 meters and is famous for being the birth place of the sixth Dalai Lama, Nagwang Lobsang Gyatso and is home to the largest Buddhist Monastery in India. Tawang also remains an important pilgrimage destination for Tibetan Buddhists. Filled with beautiful and picturesque places, it manages to enthrall each and every one who ventures into it. Best time to visit: October and November as it plays host to its wonderful Tawang Festival. Tourists paradise.
