Bumla Pass, Indo-China border which lies at an altitude of around 16,000 feet and at an elevation of 5000m above the sea level. This place evokes a feeling of patriotism, especially after watching soldiers protecting the border that too in such nerve-wracking weather conditions. Also, it was through this pass, Dalai Lama entered India.
Its not easy to reach Bumla pass as the roads are really stiff and the weather is quite unpredictable. Also after a certain point as you go higher you might fall short of oxygen. Bumla Pass is accessible only by permission. A special permit is needed to visit Bumla Pass. For the permit, you need to visit the Office of the Deputy Commissioner in Tawang District and same should be stamped in Indian army Cantonment of Tawang. Only the Army stamp will let you through the numerous check posts on the way. Bumla Pass has witnessed many memorable events amongst which is the Sino-Indian war of 1962. You can also see the Indo-China Border Personnel Meeting Point(BPM), which is one of the four meeting points between Indian Army and Army of China for regular consultations and interactions. You can also step into the Chinese territory and come back with a certificate of your visit there.
