There are villages that change how you travel — and then there’s Khonoma, that changes how you see. Khonoma, the first Green Village of India, is one of them. A village that wears its history gently, where every home, field, and forest tells you how deeply a community can care for its land.
These frames — captured by .ze — are small postcards from that world.
Here’s a little about each one of the photographs.
01. A vernacular house shaped like a church — part faith, part imagination.
02. The Semoma Fort, still holding the spirit of the Angami warriors.
03. The welcome gate to Khonoma Kharu, where stories begin with a smile.
04. Terraced farms layered in green — every step a century of patience.
05. A quiet pause among potato fields and alder trees — where I sat, and the village spoke.
06. Uku Café — all heart, warm coffee, and curious travelers.
07. A group of boys flexing muscles and mischief — childhood, untamed.
08. The Khonoma Baptist Church, white against deep forest greens.
09. St. John the Evangelist Church, still and beautiful in the morning light.
10. The peer house — where young minds learn the rhythm of community life.
Khonoma is not a destination. It’s a reminder — that sustainability isn’t a slogan here, it’s simply how they live.
