Ranakpur Jain temples are a major pilgrimage site for people from the Jain community and are also a big tourist attraction. Inconspicuously hidden in a ‘bowl’ of mountains, the many temples emerge magically as one approaches them by the winding road. The main temple complex has 1444 exquisitely carved pillars and no two are alike. There are many such interesting facts and trivia that can keep a visitor engaged for a few hours and mesmerised forever thereafter.

Tanot Rai Mata Temple is at a distance of 150 km from Jaisalmer, and barely 20 km from the India-Pak border. This unique temple is maintained by the BSF and is open only to Indian nationals for Darshan or visit. During the 1965 India-Pakistan war, around 3000 bombs/ shells were targeted at this temple but none could cause any damage, in fact, those bombs did not even explode. A few of those bombs are displayed on the premises.

Khodiyar maa is worshipped by many castes in Gujarat and a few in Rajasthan too. Her mount is a crocodile. Many whose Kuldevi is Khodiyar maa, use ‘Khodiyar’ as their surname as well. This temple is located near the main entrance to The Statue of Unity, Kevadia.

The uniqueness of this Shiva temple is that it is built around a toe-print of Lord Shiva and this toe-print is worshipped here, unlike other Shiva temples where it is the Shivalinga that is worshipped. Located on the way to Achalgarh Fort in Mount Abu, Achaleshwar Mahadev Temple is believed to be constructed in 9th century AD.

A mosque that dates back to the year 1513 and was built in a blend of Mughal and Hindu architectural styles, and still ranks high among the most notable monuments in Gujarat. Part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, the mosque attracts many visitors every year. This here is the Jama Masjid of Champaner.
