The forest stretch along the Joshimath–Auli road just before Kachhad Band (the lower hairpin turns/bends below the main Auli resort zone) is one of the quietest forest walks in the area.

​Unlike the upper alpine trail from Auli toward Gorson Bugyal, this lower forest route cuts directly through dense Garhwal oak, deodar, and pine stands before the road climbs up to the open slopes.

​Trail Highlights & Route Info

​Location: Below main Auli, along the winding forest road coming up from TV Tower / Joshimath side toward Kachhad Band.

​Terrain: Soft forest floor, dirt shortcuts cutting across the asphalt bends, and heavy canopy cover.

​Vibe: Peaceful and heavily wooded. It offers shade during summer and thick snow-dusted paths during peak winter without the heavy crowd density of the upper chairlift area.

Tips for the Walk

​Road vs. Trail: You can either walk along the quiet stretches of the road edge or take the short forest paths that cut straight up between the hairpin bends.
​Footwear: Wear shoes with good traction, especially in monsoon (slippery mud) or winter (hidden black ice on shaded turns).
​Wildlife: Keep an eye out for Himalayan monal, barking deer, and multi-colored mountain birds along the lower tree canopy.

The Valley of Flowers National Park is a stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, India.
