Santook is a small, beautiful hamlet in Kalimpong. Resonating with the soothing sounds of the Relli River flowing below and the songs of mountain birds, Santook can truly be called a paradise for nature lovers.
Although Mt. Kanchenjunga is not visible from this village, Santook offers pure peace if you want to experience nature up close and enjoy a quiet, carefree holiday surrounded by lush greenery.
How to Reach & Road Conditions:
Distance from Algarah: Just 9 km from Algarah Market in Kalimpong.
Downhill Route: You need to drive downhill for about 7 km. The first 3 km of this stretch are somewhat rough due to heavy monsoon rains and lack of maintenance.
Despite the rough road, the fatigue of the journey—or the bit of adventure—will vanish as soon as you arrive. The simplicity of mountain life, the sound of flowing river water, home-cooked food, and warm hospitality at the homestays will surely refresh you from the weariness of city life.
Things to Do:
Santook is a paradise for those who love:

Bird Watching
Sitting by the riverside brings immense peace to the mind. After a short trek down to the river, you'll also find a charming little cafe.
Note: Apart from nature and its quiet solitude, there isn't much else here. There are no markets or shopping centers nearby—the closest market is back in Algarah. Therefore, this destination may not be suitable for those looking for bustling city amenities or shopping.
