The world's most reclusive country has been reincarnated as its most exclusive place to travel, where eco-chic resorts cling to Himalayan peaks, and valleys still resound with the sounds of silence.

Leonardo Da Vinci may have designed the first parachute, but NASA helped design, and name, the paraglider. In 1961, a French engineer named Pierre Lemoigne took the first steps by cutting strategically placed vents in a parachute which allowed it to ascend into the air and be steered, but it was NASA who developed what was known as a "sail wing," for use in recovery of lunar capsules, into the paraglider.

You’re Not A Real Bullet Owner Unless...

So you've just bought a new Bullet, eh? Happy with the five speed shifter on the ‘wrong’ side? Electric start working fine every time? No parts fallen off yet? Well you’re not a real Bullet owner then. Unless…

1. Your jeans have oil stains.
The old cast iron engine wasn’t the airtight package you get with the current unit construction powerplant. The old engine was famous for its temperamental nature and leaking engine oil, most of which usually ended up on the rider’s jeans. Most owners would leave an oil pan under the bike overnight to prevent a dirty floor

2. Only you can start your bullet.
No electric start, and a starting procedure that no other biker knows. You decompress the engine first and then kick start it. If you don’t, you’ll probably end up with a broken ankle. Someone tried to steal your bike and ended up in the hospital.

3. You treat your bike better than your girlfriend/wife.
You have spent more money on the bike in the past month than on the gift for your girlfriend’s birthday last year. At least one of them is happy.

4. You don’t ride fast. You cruise.
Because the brakes are terrible. Those drum brakes weren’t designed for high speeds. So it’s best not to get too ahead of yourself and let those 100cc economisers have their traffic light grand prix.

5. You have fallen off your bike at least once.
It can be while taking it off the main stand or just negotiating a U-turn, or just because the brakes failed. What did we tell you about speeding? Thankfully, the bike repair bill was less than your medical bill.

6. The bike has given up on you in the middle of the road.
It can range from anything from the clutch wire snapping just as you were going to shift to fourth, or the throttle sticking on the stop. Luckily for you, a fellow Bulleteer helped you out when he spotted you looking like a fish out of water.

Cross-country (XC) cycling is the most common discipline of mountain biking. Cross-country cycling became an Olympic sport in 1996 and is the only form of mountain biking practiced at the Olympics.
Terrain
Cross-country cycling is defined by the terrain on which it is performed. XC courses and trails consist of a mix of rough forest paths and singletrack (also referred to as doubletrack depending on width), smooth fireroads, and even paved paths connecting other trails. Riding or racing is also only deemed cross-country if the technical complexity of the trails is easy or moderate. Trails difficult even to experienced riders are more often dubbed "all-mountain", "freeride", or "downhill".

Bikes and equipment
Cross-country bicycles are some of the lightest mountain bikes, typically between 7 and 16 kilograms (15 and 35 lb). They usually feature suspension forks in front and sometimes have suspension in the rear. In both the front and rear, most XC bicycles have approximately 100 millimetres (10.0 cm; 3.9 in) of suspension travel, although some riders prefer 125 to 150 millimetres (12.5 to 15.0 cm; 4.9 to 5.9 in) of travel as bicycle frame strength and technology advance. The geometry of the frames generally place the rider in a little more upright position than on a road bicycle but much less than on a downhill bike.[citation needed]

Bicycle helmets are often used for cross-country riding.[2] However, XC riders only rarely wear full-face helmets and do not wear the full body "armour" employed by downhill riders. Cross country cyclists are more prone to injuries than road cyclists; however, the injuries sustained by XC riders are usually not as severe.

RE fact of the day :
Royal Enfield opened its establishment in India in 1955 named as ‘Enfield of India’ based in Chennai. It started assembling Bullet motorcycles with the imported components from UK. The original Redditch, Worcestershire based company dissolved in 1971, but ‘Enfield of India’ was thriving; and in 1995, bought the rights to use the name ‘Royal Enfield’.
