Maldivian man receives rare treatment through 'Freeze Technology' at KIMS Health A 51-year-old Maldivian man suffering from a kidney tumor received relief through an innovative treatment method called 'Cryoablation' or 'Freeze Technology'. Key information: Medical condition: A 2-centimeter tumor was found in the patient's right kidney during an examination following severe abdominal pain. Challenge: Due to heart problems, normal surgery was a big challenge for him. Treatment method: Instead of surgery, the 'cryoablation' method was adopted, which freezes and destroys tumor cells through extreme cold. What is cryoablation? Argon gas is injected into the tumor using special needles to create extreme cold (below zero). It forms an 'ice ball' around the tumor and destroys tumor cells without affecting healthy cells. Benefits: Minimally Invasive. Fast recovery. Kidney function is completely preserved. The treatment was successfully completed by the medical team led by Dr. Manish Kumar Yadav, Senior Consultant, Department of Neuro Interventional Radiology. The patient returned to full health after a three-day hospital stay.
