In this small village near Thrissur, Onam has been celebrated with unmatched vibrancy and unity since 1962.

Here, the festival isn’t a performance... It’s a way of celebrating life. The entire community, across religions, castes, and generations, comes together to create ten days of joy, art, and togetherness that the outside world rarely sees.

This journey is for the discerning traveller who values depth, authenticity, and comfort. Through our deep relationship with Vallachira’s artists, we’ll take you beyond the festival days - into workshops, rehearsal spaces, and family homes where traditions are nurtured and passed down.

It’s rare access. Intimate encounters. Thoughtful hospitality.

An all-inclusive experience that supports local communities while immersing you in the beating heart of Kerala’s most beloved celebration.

On this National Handloom Day, we celebrate the communities that continue to weave heritage into the everyday - through craft, creativity, and resilience.

In Kerala’s Chendamangalam, handloom weaving continues through changing times, climate events, and shifting markets.

Since 2018, The Blue Yonder and Resilient Destinations Foundation have been working with weaving cooperatives - first through the story of Chekutty, and now through long-term collaborations focused on dignity, design, and cultural tourism.

This is not a campaign. It’s a quiet commitment.

We’re thrilled to see TWO of our community‑powered journeys, Nilavala & Pokkali, featured in the Godrej Food Trends Report 2025.

👉🏽Nilavala turns derelict Chinese fishing nets into twilight dining decks, funding repairs, and rescue‑kayak training.

👉🏽 Pokkali pays farmers premium prices for a centuries-old, salt‑tolerant rice and channels tourism income into co-op-led climate‑resilience projects.

For us, food isn’t a stop on the itinerary - it is the journey.
Join us where every bite restores a shoreline, every grain tells a climate story, and every traveller leaves a positive imprint.

👉🏽 Slots will open soon after the monsoon season. Message us to hop aboard.

Kuriyappilly Women Weavers’ Cooperative, Chendamangalam

Yesterday, we sat together — women who’ve kept generations of weaving alive, now reclaiming their future with pride and purpose.

Earlier this year, this community stood on the verge of losing everything. A crushing loan of ₹93 lakhs threatened not only the looms, but their land and individual assets. The bank had given a deadline: March 31.

But they didn’t go under.
They rose — and so did everyone around them.

Thanks to the solidarity of conscious travelers and partner travel companies who believed this story was worth saving.

Thanks to Kerala Bank, who responded with empathy and flexibility during crucial negotiations.

And thanks to the quiet persistence of the women who never gave up — even when everything around them told them to.

Today, they are debt-free. No foreclosure. No fear. Just strength, laughter, and ideas for the future.

With Resilient Destinations Foundation, Equinoct , and The Blue Yonder who stood by them, we’re now co-imagining the next phase: more weaving, stronger cooperatives, better livelihoods, and mentoring the next generation also for a flood resilient community.

We don’t walk ahead.
We walk with them.
And we thank every traveller who became part of this journey.

The story behind Sopanam School of Music 👇🏼

It started with one teacher, one classroom and two students in 2005.

We planned a project to create a circular economy around traditional percussion. The idea was to provide a dignified livelihood to musicians and make the art form inclusive and accessible. Meanwhile, to also develop eco-systems around the traditional music that increases livelihood opportunities for non-musicians (self-help group of women for decorations of musical instruments, running canteen to provide food for travellers, and so on)

It's been 20 years since, and the results have been amazing! There are 29 schools with 13 teachers and around 1500 students. It has won many accolades as a responsible tourism initiative that brought the spotlight on traditional percussion while supporting musicians and local families.

About .arthub

Nisarga is a very unique space: earthy, open-hearted art hub nestled in Angamaly. It is a home designed for a family of musicians to live, create, and host intimate gatherings. Built by Wallmakers using reclaimed materials and traditional design principles, it blends seamlessly into the natural landscape. Every element of the space encourages community, creativity, and conscious living.

There are performances.
And then there are rituals like Thirayattam—
where devotion takes form through the human body.

Passed down for generations in Kerala, this intense, theatrical ritual is held in sacred groves or within ancestral homes, where deities are worshipped as living presences.

The performer is not the focus. The spirit is.
And in that moment, the divine is no longer distant.

In today’s fast world, Thirayattam holds space for something timeless—
a pulse that reminds us what it means to belong to land, lineage, and the sacred.

📍 Practised across Kozhikode and nearby regions of Kerala.

Not all journeys are about seeing new places. Some are about remembering what must not be forgotten.

River Nila in Kerala has long been more than a river — it’s been a way of life.

Its waters carried songs, rituals, stories, and skills that flowed through generations.

This trail is an invitation to walk alongside those memories —

To meet the people who still remember,
To witness traditions still practised,
And to become part of a story that continues because we choose to care.

Join us from July 25 – August 1 for a travel experience that gives back.
