Nature Zone Resort Munnar
We made a recent unplanned trip to Munnar on a weekend. The trip was so unplanned that we started searching for a place to stay once we reached there only. One of our friends in the industry recommended Nature Zone. Personally I have not heard much about this place, but we didn’t want to waste more time as it was raining heavily, so decided to stay there. We always had excellent resort experiences before also only from these kind of unplanned trips so we decided to take a chance. Viju called up the hotel and organized for a driver to pick us up. The Jeep came in 10mins. We parked our car in the paid parking zone near Munnar Bus stand and headed off to the resort in the Jeep. The initial 1KM was tarred but after that the bumpy ride started. The driver was arranged from outside as the hotel driver was not available. This guy was terrible driver and the road too bumpy. I was sitting in the back and my head was hitting the jeeps roof each time the jeep jumped! Total 3kms from main road we reached the Resort. And now, I think all the bumpy ride was worth it. This property was amazing. Spread beautifully over 30 Acres with two breath taking view points, trekking paths, Shola forests, gardens, this is a place I would personally love to own. We were welcomed by very pleasant faces and of course an excellent Chukku Kappi. The accommodation is in African Safari Tents and Tree houses. We wanted to stay in the Tree house but were fully booked. So we got a Tent for ourselves- No.104. It also had an amazing view of the valley. The Tent was rustically furnished and very clean. Not to mention, the staffs were very friendly and attended to all our requests. The dinner was good and food was very tasty. Morning we came to the reception at 7.00am. The reception guys told us about the trekking to the main two view points within the property. The climb is not much in one of the view point but through grass land, but the other a climb for 20mins is required through the Shola forest but, worth it. We could see the trail marks of Wild Guar which was fresh and maybe elephant also has passed before a couple of weeks. Lot of Mountain squirrels, birds. Altogether a good experience for nature lovers I should say.
We checked out from the hotel by 8.30am and the return drive was good as the Jeep driver was from the hotel and he ensured the jeep is not jumping and bumping too much. Here are some quick facts
