Manali trips usually get spoiled by bad timing… not bad weather.

Late starts to Solang/Sissu side, overpacked itineraries, wrong hotel locations and nonstop mountain driving — that’s what exhausts most tourists.

Few things to consider;

* Start early for tunnel/Sissu routes
* One mountain route per day is enough
* Gulaba weather changes fast after afternoon
* Cheap uphill stays are not always practical
* Delhi–Manali journey itself is tiring

Mountains reward slower plans.

Before you exit, find the airline baggage desk. Ask for a PIR number — Property Irregularity Report. This is not optional. The moment you file it, your bag enters a global tracking system called WorldTracer. Without it, the airline has no obligation to even look.
And here’s what most people don’t know — there’s a time limit.
For delayed bags, report before you leave the airport. For damaged bags, you have 7 days on international flights. For missing items from a delivered bag, just 24 hours. Miss these windows and your compensation claim can be rejected completely. Not delayed. Rejected.
Keep your boarding pass and baggage tag. Share your hotel details correctly at the desk. That’s how they find you when the bag is traced — and most bags are, within 24–72 hours, if reported fast.
A few things I tell every client before they fly international:
Never pack medicines, chargers or next-day essentials in check-in baggage. Cheap routing with tight layovers? Your bag might not make that connection even if you do.
AirTags — just carry one. Simple.
The exit can wait. The PIR cannot.

Flight fare എങ്ങനെ behave ചെയ്യുന്നു എന്ന് മനസ്സിലാക്കാത്തതിലാണ്.
ഇപ്പോഴും ഒരുപാട് പേർ കാത്തിരിക്കുകയാണ് — “War കഴിഞ്ഞാൽ fares താഴും, അപ്പോൾ book ചെയ്യാം…”
സത്യം പറഞ്ഞാൽ, അത് സംഭവിക്കാൻ പോകുന്നില്ല.
Airlines ഇപ്പോൾ full capacity-യിൽ fly ചെയ്യുന്നില്ല. പല routes cut ചെയ്തു. Fuel cost ഒരു ദിവസം പോലും predict ചെയ്യാൻ പറ്റാത്ത അവസ്ഥ. അതുകൊണ്ട് 2026 fares stable ആയി down ആകുന്ന ഒരു market അല്ല.

“ഇന്നലെ ₹38K ആയിരുന്നു… ഇന്ന് നോക്കിയപ്പോൾ ₹52K. എന്താ പറ്റിയത്?”

→ Travel date-ന്റെ ±1 day flexibility എപ്പോഴും check ചെയ്യുക. ചിലപ്പോൾ ₹8–10K difference കാണാം.
→ Weekend departures കഴിയുന്നതും avoid ചെയ്യുക. Tuesday/Wednesday departures usually cheaper.

Meghalaya trip plan ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ടോ? ഒരു കാര്യം honestly പറയട്ടെ.

Reel-ൽ കാണുന്ന Meghalaya വേറെ level ആണ്. Crystal water, മഞ്ഞ് മൂടിയ valleys, living root bridges… all real. പക്ഷേ ആ experience കിട്ടണമെങ്കിൽ — timing ശരിയായിരിക്കണം, planning ശരിയായിരിക്കണം.
Wrong time-ൽ പോയാൽ — Nohkalikai almost dry. Dawki green and murky. “ഇതിനാണോ ഇത്ര hype?” എന്ന് തോന്നും. ആ feeling വന്ന clients-നെ ഞാൻ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട്.
ഇതൊന്നും travel pages പറയില്ല:
ചില villages Sunday-ൽ tourists-നെ allow ചെയ്യില്ല. Local community rest day ആണ്. Advance-ൽ അറിഞ്ഞില്ലെങ്കിൽ ആ day waste.
Dawki-യിലെ clear water Nov–Feb window-ൽ മാത്രം. Monsoon-ൽ upstream rain കൊണ്ട് colour change ആകും — reel-ൽ കാണുന്നത് കിട്ടില്ല.
Double Decker Root Bridge-ലേക്ക് 3,500-ൽ കൂടുതൽ steps ഉണ്ട്. Preparation ഇല്ലാതെ പോയവർ halfway-ൽ തിരിച്ചു വന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്.
Shillong to Cherrapunji — 55 km മാത്രം. പക്ഷേ mountain roads ആണ്, 2.5 മണിക്കൂർ ആകും. Itinerary-ൽ ഇത് calculate ചെയ്‌തില്ലെങ്കിൽ day തന്നെ പോകും.
Camping, bonfire — forest zones-ൽ permission വേണം. Without that, fine കിട്ടും.
Weather — locals പോലും predict ചെയ്യില്ല. Sudden fog, road block, flash rain. Hour-by-hour plan ഉണ്ടാക്കിയാൽ almost always break ആകും.
എപ്പോൾ പോകണം:
Lush and dramatic വേണോ → June–September
Balanced, safer weather വേണോ → October–November
Dawki clear water specifically വേണോ → November–February
Minimum 5 days. 4 days-ൽ cover ആകും എന്ന് ആരെങ്കിലും പറഞ്ഞാൽ — believe ചെയ്യരുത്. Rush ചെയ്‌ത് കഴിഞ്ഞ് “not worth it” feel ആകും.
ഒരു flex day always വേണം. Weather unpredictable ആണ്, Meghalaya-ൽ plan B ഇല്ലാതെ പോകരുത്.
