India suspends visas of travellers coming from Italy 🇮🇹, Iran 🇮🇷, South Korea South Korea🇰🇷, and Japan Japan🇯🇵, along with China 🇨🇳.

India has suspended all visas granted to foreign nationals from Italy, Iran, South Korea, and Japan in the wake of three people, including a tourist, testing positive for COVID-19. Visas given to Chinese nationals had already been suspended.

Visas, both regular and e-visa, granted to all foreign nationals who have travelled to any of the above mentioned five countries on or after February 1, 2020, also stands cancelled, a press release stated on Tuesday.

Those requiring to travel to India under compelling circumstances may apply for a fresh visa at the nearest Indian Embassy/Consulate, it added.

Diplomats, officials of the UN and other international bodies, OCI cardholders and aircrew will be allowed after compulsory medical screening at the point of entry.

Passengers arriving directly or indirectly from China, South Korea, Japan, Iran, Italy, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore and Taiwan must undergo medical screening at port of entry.

NEW THAILAND
THAILAND EXTENDS VISA-ON-ARRIVAL FEE WAIVER UNTIL 31 OCTOBER 2019

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is pleased to announce that the Royal Thai Government has approved the extension of the visa-on-arrival fee waiver for citizens of 20 countries for another six months, until 31 October.

The decision was announced in the Royal Thai Government Gazette on 30 April, reasoning it as a measure to stimulate and promote tourism as well as to enhance the kingdom’s attractiveness among foreign visitors.

Citizens of Andora, Bulgaria, Bhutan, China including Taiwan, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Fiji, India, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Papua New Guinea, Romania, San Marino, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine and Uzbekistan will be exempted from the 2,000 Baht visa-on-arrival fee for the purpose of touring in Thailand for not more than 15 days.

The government first approved the visa-on-arrival fee waiver from 15 November, 2018, to 14 January, 2019, and further extended the measure to 30 April.
