Our new find is a wooden cottage located in KOLAKHAM, a small hamlet in Neora Valley National Park of Kalimpong sub division of Kalimpong district in West Bengal. Being situated within Neora Valley National Park, the scenic beauty of this place is marvellous. Our homestay at CHILAPATA in dooars is located in close vicinity of the forest. Chilapata is a dense forest near Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary in Dooars and has become a favourite Tourist destination for many in the recent past. By staying at our place, you may go for a guided safari inside the Chilapata forest towards Mendabari watch tower and KodalBasti forest. Among the wildlife, one horned rhinos, large number of elephants, bison, deer, and leopard, lesser cats, cheetah, sambar, barking deer, wild boar etc. are found here. Chilapata forest is the main elephant corridor between the Buxa Tiger Reserve Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary. While visiting Chilapata Forest The jeep safari in Chilapata Forest is one of one of the prominent tourist attraction of Dooars. It is the key place where one horned rhinoceros are more likely to be found at the afternoon every day. You can also have a tea garden tour to the nearby Mathura Tea Estate and can have a cultural experience by the Rabha Tribal Community. Our new find at DAWAIPANI is located just 15 km away from Darjeeling main town, is an unexplored small hamlet situated opposite the famous Tiger Hill of Darjeeling at an altitude of 6,500 ft, surrounded by thick Himalayan forests. The quiet village offers an uninterrupted 180-degree view of the Kanchenjunga range. It also offers a clear view of Namchi Chardham or Samdruptse Monastery and Darjeeling town. You will feel like you are peering down from the space when you will see lights glittering below at Darjeeling town. Dawaipani in local language means ‘Medicated (Dawai) water (Pani).’ The place is renowned for medicinal plants that grow in abundance here. The local river Khola meanders through the village that is surrounded by thick Himalayan foliage and guarded by the majestic snow-capped mountain peaks at a distance. This place is a haven for trekkers and hikers. Even photographers and birdwatchers have a blast as the forests provide natural cover and are home to a large variety of birds. It is a pleasure to get acquainted with Himalayan birds that dwell only in the high altitudes and cannot be seen in the plains.
