1. Overpacking the Backpack

👉 Mistake: Carrying unnecessary clothes, gadgets, or heavy gear.
💡 Fix: Pack only what’s needed, lightweight, quick-dry clothing, essentials only.

2. Wearing Brand-New Shoes

👉 Mistake: Trekking with shoes straight out of the box.
💡 Fix: Break them in during walks/hikes at least 2 weeks before.

3. No Pre-Trek Fitness Prep

While Hampta Pass is technically accessible in May, the descent towards Chatru and exit to Spiti or Manali remains closed due to heavy snow accumulation.

👉 The full route becomes safer and fully open from early to mid-June, once the snow starts melting.
📆 So if you’re planning the complete trek experience, the best time is from mid-June onwards.
