Freedom was never only about breaking away. It was also about choosing to build something of our own. From the Swadeshi movement to Indian-owned steamships on the Hooghly, Bengal has a long history of turning that belief into action. Today, as we sail these same waters, we’re reminded of the people who dared to imagine an India that could stand on its own.
