In Bhutan, chilli isn't just a little seasoning on the side. It can be a star ingredient — and Ema Datshi, made with chillies and Bhutanese cheese, is one of the dishes you’ll hear about again and again.

But here’s the real question:

Would you try Ema Datshi?

At around 3,100 metres, Dochula Pass is one of the most scenic stops on the road between Thimphu and Punakha.

And then there are the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens—a striking memorial built to honor Bhutanese soldiers who lost their lives during the 2003 operation.

On a clear day, the clouds open up to reveal spectacular Himalayan views. But even when the mountains hide behind the mist, Dochula has a beauty of its own.
