JUST A SIMPLE SUNDAY POST; from the tropical forests of Bhutan. In frame: a Garden Lizard( Calotes versicolor).In simple language, Calotes usually refers to most/ all forest dwelling lizards. versicolor meaning varying in color, one because the male usually starts to turn reddish during peak breeding season( as can be seen in this video clip too) and secondly also, locally and regionally they can vary in colour such as many/ most found in Southern India are often greenish compared to greyish/ brownish in other parts of Indian and Malay regions.
