This is *Vantawng Falls, Mizoram* 🌿

*Location*: Near Thenzawl town, Serchhip District, Mizoram
*Height*: ∼750 ft / 229 m - one of the highest waterfalls in India
The falls drop in 2 main tiers through a deep gorge, surrounded by dense tropical rainforest and cliffs covered in moss and greenery.

- Vantawng is considered the most spectacular waterfall in Mizoram.
- The water plunges down rock faces into a pool below, making it a popular spot for nature lovers and photographers.
- The area is rich in biodiversity and the sound of the falls echoes through the entire valley.
- Best time to visit: *October to March*, after monsoon when water flow is strong but trekking is easier.

It’s about 92 km from Aizawl and 5 km from Thenzawl. Very peaceful and less commercialized compared to other tourist spots.

*Cane Suspension Bridge, near Anini, Arunachal Pradesh* 🌉

This is one of the iconic cane-and-bamboo suspension bridges of Dibang Valley, near Anini — the easternmost district HQ of India.

Built by local Idu Mishmi tribes, these bridges are made entirely with cane, bamboo, and steel cables. No nails, no cement — just traditional engineering that has lasted generations.
They hang high over the turquoise Dibang river, connecting remote villages across deep gorges and dense forests.

2. *Lifeline*: The only way for locals to cross rivers and reach schools, markets, and each other

Also called _Madhuri Lake_ after the Bollywood movie Koyla.
Crystal clear lake surrounded by pine trees + valley views. 17km from Tawang.
Perfect for photos, yak rides & peace. Winter mein it freezes too!
Must visit in Arunachal 💙

*Kulik, Raiganj – Where the Trees Turn White*

Just did an overnight at the WBTDCL lodge in Kulik Wildlife Sanctuary and I’m still stunned.

*The magic*: Step onto the terrace at dusk and the forest disappears. Hundreds of Asian Openbill storks blanket every branch – locals call them Siberian cranes. Wings, beaks, soft clattering. Pure monsoon chaos. Asia’s largest bird colony, 10 feet from your room.

Rooms are basic and could use TLC – chipped paint, old fittings. But the staff? Absolute gems. Warm smiles, endless chai, and directions to the best bird-watch spot. Food was simple Bengali comfort – hot rice, thick Dal, Alu posto, delicious local Mach bhaja.
You forget the dripping tap when 500 birds take off at once. This isn’t about luxury. It’s about falling asleep to storks and waking up to a sky full of wings.

*Go*: July–Oct for nesting season
*Stay*: WBTDCL Kulik Tourist Lodge – book for the view, not the interiors

Worth it? 100%. I’d trade 5-star polish for this terrace any day.
