Every year around 26th August, we conduct this heritage walk tracing through the pathway one of the greatest daylight arms heist in Kolkata during the British Rule whence Bengali Revolutionaries took possession of 50 Ma**er Pistols and 46000 cartridges in broad daylight literally under the nose of British Police . When we first conducted this heritage walk back in 2019, Telegraph gave a huge coverage (one full page to be precise) both in print and online version. That time Rodda Arms Robbery was not a very common term to the mass in general.
Over the last seven years, I wrote four articles on this incident in various publications. Three books in Bengali language have come out on this event, several Youtubers have made video on this event and even DD Bangla came out with a full fledged documentary on this event last year, where I acted as a consultant. In Azaadi Ki Mahotsab Gallery in Victoria Memorial, the details of Rodda Arms Robbery finds a prominent place,
We have continued the walk every year and even without any publicity. This year our good friend Raja Ghosh designed a poster for the walk with the help of AI tools. My other friend Anindya Karmakar provided some finishing touch to it. They have both attended earlier versions of this heritage walk.
So we decided to share it on the occasion of announcing this year's Rodda Arms
Robbery Walk.
The walk is scheduled to start at 07:30 AM on 23rd August, 2026 in front of R.B.I. ( Reserve Bank of India). Those of you have not attended the walk yet, please do join.
