I would like to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Government of Kerala, particularly to the Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri V.D. Satheesan and the Hon’ble Home Minister Shri Ramesh Chennithala, for the decisive action currently being undertaken in Perumbavoor against the growing menace of narcotics and organized drug networks.
The ongoing operations carried out by the Kerala Police under Operation Toofan have resulted in significant arrests and have sent out a strong message that drug-related crimes will not be tolerated. More importantly, it demonstrates the commitment of the administration and law enforcement agencies to safeguarding our society and protecting future generations.
I would also like to specially acknowledge and congratulate the courageous young men who documented the situation on the ground and brought it to public attention. It was through their video shared online that I became aware of the issue, and I subsequently forwarded the same to the Kerala Police. I must commend the Police Department and its IT Cell for their remarkably prompt response. What impressed me most was not merely the speed of the initial action, but the determination to sustain the momentum and continue the crackdown beyond the first arrests.
Such actions reaffirm our faith in the legal system, the police force, and the governance of our state. As citizens, there is immense reassurance in seeing our government stand firmly with its people and respond swiftly when concerns are brought to its attention. It strengthens confidence that our voices are heard and that responsible action follows.
We often ask ourselves what one individual can do to bring about change in society. My answer is simple: be that one person. Take action. Raise your voice. Do not assume that someone else will do it. Positive change begins when ordinary citizens decide to act with responsibility and conviction.
I am proud to have played a small role in this process. More importantly, I am proud of the young individuals who chose to use social media not merely as a platform for entertainment, but as a tool for public good. They took personal risks to expose an issue that affects us all, and for that they deserve our respect and appreciation.
Our young brothers and sisters should never become victims of drug abuse simply because the rest of us chose to remain silent. Every responsible citizen has a duty to protect the future of the next generation.
Finally, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the entire Kerala Police Department and a special note of thanks to Police Officer Shri Hardik Meena for his commitment in addressing this issue.
Let this be a reminder that when responsible citizens, law enforcement agencies, and the government work together with a common purpose, meaningful change is not only possible—it is inevitable.
