The Beypore beach, Kozhikode is one of the oldest ports in India, known for its ancient trade tied to the middle east and Mesopotamia. Beypore is also known for its legacy of wooden ship building - Sumerian ships were built and sold here 5000 years ago, and even now, ships are built to order for for industrialists who yearn for rustic flavours. In the picture is a stone pier/walkway built a kilometer into the sea, so that you can sit amongst the waves and reminisce.

Mohiniyattam, also spelled Mohiniattam, is a classical dance form from Kerala, India. Believed to have originated in 16th century CE. It is one of the eight Indian classical dance forms recognized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi. It is considered a very graceful form of dance meant to be performed as solo recitals by women.

The Varkala beach is also known as Papanasam beach, which literally means “destroyer of sins”. It is said that a dip in the
beach cures you of all sins. The waters of the beach are believed to have medicinal properties that purge the body of impurities.

Varkala beach is the only cliff-side beach in Kerala, on the coast of Arabian Sea.
