Does anyone else feel like Ladakh gets overlooked for mountaineering compared to Nepal? 🤔

It's got 6,000m peaks that are great for a first Himalayan summit (Kang Yatse II, Mentok Kangri), and serious 7,000m+ objectives in the eastern Karakoram for experienced climbers (Nun, Kun, Saser Kangri). The climbing season runs June–October, weather is drier because it's in the rain shadow, and permits for both Indian and foreign climbers are honestly simpler than most other Himalayan regions.

I came across a really thorough guide that covers the peaks, best season, required skills, full gear checklist, permits, and realistic costs (a 10–12 day 6,000m expedition runs about ₹1.25–2.8 lakh per person).

Ever wondered why Stok Kangri — Ladakh's "easiest" 6,000m peak — isn't open for expeditions anymore?
