Goa beat Gujarat, continues winning roll

Purvaja Verlekar’s 61 enabled Goa defeat Gujarat by 108 runs in the Elite Group C of BCCI U-19 Womens cricket tournament at GCA Academy ground in Porvorim on Friday. This was Goa’s third consecutive win.
Goa won the toss and opted to bat and like in their opener , notched up 207 runs in the alloted fifty overs. Purvaja top scored for Goa with 61 from 71 balls while tanya naik ended as the second highest scorer with29 nine runs to her name.
Captain Tejashwini Duragad contributed 28 and Shindiya Naik was the other player to cross the twenty mark for Goa.
Needing to score 208 for a win , Gujarat began to lose wickets consistenly after the wickets of opener Anjali patel who top scored with 31 and second batsmen Stuti jain who made 29. Five gujarat batsmen were scalped without opening their scoring.
Captain Tejashwini claimed four wickets for Goa and gawde Diksha took two. Poorva Bhaidkar claimed the other wicket. Gujarat were bowled for 99 in 47.2 overs.
