जोशु: हिमालय की चुपचाप गूंजती रहस्य कथा

जब मैंने पटना से हिमालय की ओर सफर शुरू किया, तो मेरा मकसद किसी व्यक्ति को ढूंढना नहीं था। मेरा इरादा बस शांति ढूंढने का था। पटना में जीवन बहुत शोरगुल भरा है — गंगा के किनारे, बाजारों में, मंदिरों की गूंज में। लेकिन हिमालय में, लोग कहते हैं, समय धीमा हो जाता है, #पहाड़ सवालों का जवाब धीरे-धीरे देते हैं।

वहीं, मैंने पहली बार जोशु का नाम सुना।

यह कहानी एक बैकपैकर हॉस्टल से शुरू हुई। दो लड़कियां दिल्ली से थीं, रिया और काव्या, और तीसरी लड़की स्पेन से थी, जिसका नाम लुसिया था। वे तीनों एक शाम #चाय के लिए एक छोटे पहाड़ी चाय स्टॉल पर मिलीं। उनके बीच हल्की बातचीत थी, लेकिन जब लुसिया ने पूछा कि क्या उन्होंने कभी जोशु का नाम सुना है, तो सभी चुप हो गए। किसी ने कहा कि उन्होंने सुना था, लेकिन किसी ने भी नहीं बताया कि वो कहाँ मिलेंगे।

फिर भी, मुझे जिज्ञासा थी, एक तरह का खिंचाव। हर दिन, मैं उस चाय स्टॉल के पास जाती, उस सड़क पर चलती, जहाँ लोग कहते थे कि जोशु दिखते हैं।

There are many kinds of travelers in the mountains.

Some come because they are tired of the noise of cities and hope the mountains will answer questions they cannot explain.

And then there are stories about people who seem to belong to the mountains themselves.

One of those stories is about a man some travelers call .

If you spend enough time in the Himalayan towns where backpackers gather, you may eventually hear the name.

Usually it happens casually.

Someone at a café might say:

“You should meet Joshu.”

A traveler at a bonfire might mention:

“I had a strange conversation with a guy called Joshu.”

But when you ask where to find him, the answers become vague.

“He moves around.”

“Sometimes he appears near old tea stalls.”

“Sometimes travelers just run into him.”

No one seems to know exactly where he lives.

The Man Behind the Name

Those who have met him say his real name is Nishant.

He doesn’t dress like a monk.
He doesn’t behave like a guru.
He doesn’t give lectures about spirituality.

In fact, he often denies being anything special.

He pointed toward the mountains and said:

“What should I do with my life?”

He replied:

“Finish your tea first.”

People laugh when they hear these replies.

But later many of them say the simplicity feels strangely profound.
