Charang is a temple of the eleventh century known as Rangrik Tungma complex. The temple takes its name from the goddess Rangrik Tungma and her small metal image, astride a horse is the oldest at the temple. In all likelihood Rangrik Tungma must have been a pre-Buddhist deity, absorbed into the pantheon of the later religion. Two other bronze statues appear to be of considerable value; a Maitreya seated with legs pendant, in bhadrasana and a Buddha in bhumisparsha mudra.

The Kangra Fort was built by the royal Rajput family of Kangra State (the Katoch dynasty), which traces its origins to the ancient Trigarta Kingdom, mentioned in the Mahabharata epic. It is the largest fort in the Himalayas and probably the oldest dated fort in India. The fort of Kangra resisted Akbar's siege in 1615. However, Akbar's son Jehangir successfully subdued the fort in 1620.[1] Kangra was at the time ruled by Raja Hari Chand Katoch of Kangra (also known as Raja Hari Chand II)[2] Mughal Emperor Jahangir with the help of Suraj Mal garrisoned with his troops.

Hurang Narayan is the most revered god of the Chauhar Ghati / Valley. This Chauhar village is covered with thick forest in all sides. People can’t cut wood from this forest for their use but they need to take permission for that from God. Smoking is prohibited in Hurang village totally and no one can enter in this village with to***co product. No one is also allowed to enter the village with lather materials i.e. Shoos, Belt, Purse etc. People of this village are following these rules from centuries ago and no one has the courage to break these rules.
