With a modest beginning on 20 December 1940,we are today recognized as one of the respected Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Karnataka. Our Objective is the growth of the region, serving trade and industry in this coastal region of Karnataka, Dakshina Kannada. We promote and protect the interests of anyone engaged in trade, commerce, manufacturing and allied activities, specifically in the region of Dakshina Kannada & India in general. We have performed a proactive role in promoting initiative and enterprise for the past 68 years. We are at the forefront of trade & commercial activities through legislative and trade measures introduced by the Government and its agencies and also act as a vigilant watchdog to oppose adverse measures so that the commercial activities in the region are not affected. We also promote free and fair trade practices by the commercial establishments in our region. We are the apex body in the region and along with our members are working towards making the region of Dakshina Kannada congenial for sustained economic activities by entrepreneurs, business houses and corporates, leading to better employment, better utilization of resources and balanced inclusive growth of this region. AI is becoming a practical business tool for MSMEs.

KCCI, in collaboration with Microsoft, Samhita Foundation and AIC-Nitte Incubation Centre, invites eligible MSMEs to join a 60-Day AI Enablement Program, fully sponsored by Microsoft.

The program offers live expert training, self-paced learning with mentor support, AI mentoring, chatbot assistance and practical use cases across business functions. Participants will also work with leading AI tools including ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude and Gemini.

Understanding change is the first step towards staying compliant.

KCCI and NIPM Mangaluru Chapter jointly organised a seminar on recent developments in Employees’ Provident Fund provisions and social security measures on 30 September 2026 at KCCI Meeting Hall, Mangaluru.

The session brought together HR professionals, payroll managers, compliance officers, finance heads and consultants to discuss key developments including the proposed EPF wage ceiling revision from ₹15,000 to ₹25,000, EEF provisions, ECR filing procedures, employee enrolment and other social security schemes.

A new leadership team. A shared vision for the future of business in Coastal Karnataka.

The Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), Mangaluru, held its 86th Annual General Meeting on 28 September 2026, electing its office-bearers and Board of Directors for 2026–27.

Shri Divakar Pai Kochikar has been elected President of KCCI. An entrepreneur with experience in family business and technology ventures, he has been associated with the KCCI Board since 2018, including two terms as Hon. Secretary.

The newly elected office-bearers are:

• President: Shri Divakar Pai Kochikar
• Vice-President: Shri Ashwin Pai Maroor
• Hon. Treasurer: CA Abdur Rahman Musba
• Hon. Secretaries: Shri Jeethan Allen Sequeira and Shri Vincent Cutinha

As the Chamber begins this new term, the focus remains on advancing the region’s business potential through sustainable development, stronger infrastructure, sectoral growth and opportunities for the next generation.

Strengthening the bridge between technical education and industry.

KCCI and Hebich Technical Training Institute (HTTI), Mangaluru signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 24 September 2026 at the institute’s campus.

The MoU, exchanged by Shri P. B. Ahmed Mudassar, President, KCCI, and Shri Chetan R, Principal, HTTI, aims to strengthen industry–academia collaboration through industrial visits, internship opportunities and job placement assistance for students through KCCI.

As part of the visit, the KCCI delegation toured the institute and observed the machinery, tools and facilities used for practical training. The delegation also interacted with faculty and staff from various departments.

KCCI was represented by Vice-President Shri Divakar Pai Kochikar, Hon. Secretary Shri Ashwin Pai Maroor, and Director Shri Amit Ramachandra.

The collaboration marks another step towards creating stronger connections between technical education and the industry ecosystem.

Mangalore's industrial story did not begin with industries. It began with trade.

Banking, trading, the beedi industry and cashew were among the key pillars of Dakshina Kannada's economy.

But as the old port became increasingly congested, the need for a new port became clear.

The development of New Mangalore Port opened another chapter. Trade began giving way to new industrial possibilities, industrial areas emerged, and companies such as Mangalore Chemicals & Fertilizers became part of a growing industrial landscape.

Growth needs direction, systems and the ability to act on both.

KCCI, in partnership with InUnity and Mangai Foundation, hosted the two-day executive workshop “Leading the Next Phase of Growth” on 18 and 19 September 2026 at KCCI Meeting Hall, Mangaluru.

Designed exclusively for SME Founders, Managing Directors and next-generation business leaders, the workshop focused on strengthening leadership, building systematic sales engines, identifying new revenue opportunities and applying AI as a practical business tool.

Participants worked through growth diagnosis, leadership time audit, sales funnel planning, people capability and personal AI applications, with practical action points to take forward.

Taking Mangaluru’s Priorities Forward

KCCI President Shri P.B. Ahmed Mudassar, along with KCCI office bearers, directors and past presidents, met Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri D. K. Shivakumar at the Circuit House, Mangaluru, and submitted a memorandum outlining key concerns and developmental priorities for the district.

The memorandum covers priorities across industrial development, infrastructure, logistics, tourism, connectivity, fishing infrastructure and access to justice.

KCCI also placed specific proposals for strengthening tourism, including a dedicated tourism promotion budget, an annual calendar of events, single-window clearances and a consistent policy framework for homestays.

According to KCCI's press release, the Chief Minister took note of the concerns raised and discussed possible measures relating to the development of Mangaluru and the coastal region.

KCCI remains committed to representing the concerns and aspirations of the region's trade, commerce and industry.
