Zanskar experiences two main seasons: *summer* and *winter*. Summer, which lasts from June to September, is perfect for exploring the valley, with temperatures ranging from -2°C to 30°C. The snow from the surrounding mountains melts, and the valley becomes lush and green, making it ideal for activities like river rafting and trekking ¹.

On the other hand, winters in Zanskar are extremely harsh, lasting from October to May, with temperatures dropping below -15°C. The entire valley freezes, creating opportunities for winter adventures like the famous *Chadar Trek* on the frozen Zanskar River. However, the roads are blocked by heavy snow from mid-October to mid-April, making it difficult to access the valley.

If you're planning to visit Zanskar, the best time is from July to September, when the weather is pleasant, and the roads are open. However, if you're looking for a unique winter experience, the Chadar Trek is a popular option, but be prepared for the challenging conditions.
