Horns locked & the Winner is..

Two Male Spotted Deers were seen engaged in a Dramatic Head to Head fight for supremacy during our recent Wild Life Tour in Pench Tiger Reserve (Touria Gate)

Male spotted deer, or Chital, engage in fierce Antler Duels, called Sparing or Rutting to establish dominance and secure breeding rights.

In this video you can hear a distinct loud clacking sound while they fight with each other.

गरुडमाची (ताम्हिणीघाट)येथे आयोजलेल्या या सहलीत Mitrakida Foundation यांचे डॉक्टर राहुल मराठे आणि सौ नूतन कर्णिक यांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली Insect -Nature Walk केला.

या छोट्या निसर्ग भ्रमंतीमध्ये आम्हाला एके ठिकाणी मुंग्यांचे सुंदर वारूळ दिसले. त्यात मुंग्यांची कामाची लगबग दिसत होती. या मुंग्या म्हणजे निसर्गाच्या परिसंस्थेतील महत्वाच्या घटक असलेल्या हार्वेस्टर मुंगी

हार्वेस्टर मुंग्या (Harvester ant) बिया, धान्य आणि गवताचे तुकडे गोळा करून आपल्या वारुळात साठवून ठेवतात. त्यांना 'कापणी करणारी मुंगी' किंवा 'कृषी मुंगी' असेही म्हणतात.

या अनोख्या मुंग्यांची आणि त्यांच्या वारूळ निर्मितीच्या प्रक्रियेची माहिती सांगत आहेत, सौ नूतन कर्णिक या व्हिडिओच्या माध्यमातून..

गरुडमाची (ताम्हिणीघाट)येथे आयोजलेल्या या सहलीत Mitrakida Foundation यांचे डॉक्टर राहुल मराठे आणि सौ नूतन कर्णिक यांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली Insect -Nature Walk केला.

या छोट्या भ्रमंतीमध्ये आम्हाला दिसला एक छान आणि मनमोहक किडा. मृगाचा किडा (Red Velvet Mite) म्हणून ओळखला जाणारा हा किडा पावसाच्या सुरुवातीला (विशेषतः मृग नक्षत्रात) दिसतो. लाल भडक रंगाचा हा मृगाचा किडा आकाराने लहान असला तरी मखमली कांतीमुळे वैशिष्ट्यपूर्ण भासतो. मृगाचा किडा हा खरा कीटक नसून कोळ्याच्या (Spider) प्रजातीतील एक 'ॲरॅक्निड' (Arachnid) आहे.

या अनोख्या किड्याची शास्त्रीय माहिती सांगत आहेत, सौ नूतन कर्णिक या व्हिडिओच्या माध्यमातून..
